Our client was a ski instructor teaching a lesson near the base area of Steamboat Resort. She was hit from behind by a tourist from Wyoming and pushed her roughly 20 feet before he fell on top of her. Our client tore her ACL and MCL from the collision. The defendant would not pay for her injuries so Eddington Law Firm filed a lawsuit against him. Eddington Law was able to secure her the defendant’s $300,000 in policy limits from his home owner’s insurance policy in the litigation process.
Our client was at his favorite mountain (Wolf Creek Ski Area) for a day of skiing with his family when the day unexpectedly took a turn. As he stood waiting for one of the members of his party to come down the hill, he was hit by an out of control snowboarder who couldn’t stop in time to avoid him. Our client was on the edge of a run, in the safest place to wait for someone. As the downhill skier, he had the right of way. After battling with the responsible party’s homeowners insurance for over two years through the litigation process, we were able to obtain a $250,000 settlement.
While skiing at Steamboat Spring resort, a seven-year-old girl was stopped on the side of a green run with her sister waiting for their parents who were skiing behind them when a young woman from New York City ran over her and broke her leg. The defendant was going too fast for her ability on the run and couldn’t stop before hitting the young girl. The young girl required surgery to repair her broken leg.
The young woman from New York City had renter’s insurance on her apartment that included a $300,000 liability limit that covered her for her negligence. We were able to get her insurance company to pay the policy limits without having to file a lawsuit and going through a long drawn out and costly litigation process.
